David Dean

David is a native of Salt lake City, Utah. As a youth he also lived in Seattle, Washington. He has traveled throughout the South Pacific while serving as a flight deck director on the USS Constellation. After his service in the Navy he resided in Palm Springs, California. It was here that he began his serious study of the arts. At this time he studied architecture and sculpture. He helped to develop the Sculpture Center at the College of the Desert and was one of the first artists to experiment in cast paper relief.

After returning to Utah he attended the University of Utah. Since his college years, he has sought out added knowledge in the old master style of painting and has developed a unique style of oil painting combining the knowledge of the old master with the freshness of the impressionists. Artists avid has studied under in the past ten years include: Zhang WenXin, Jim Wilcox, Doyle Shaw, Frank Covino, George Allen. Previously he was influenced by Avard Fairbanks his great uncle, and his most respected artist of the past is Carl Bloch and has also studied and reproduced the works of Bouguereau.

David has a strong bond with both nature and history and is currently pursuing paintings which both teach and inspire. As a sensitive artist he has been given the gift to be able to paint from within himself to achieve a great amount of feeling from his works of art.

David has been given many compliments directed towards his art from his peers including "full of feeling", "accurate depiction" and "masterful in his technique"

David and his wife enjoy their associations with other artists in the area which include paint outs, drawing sessions, sculpture and art shows. During this past year David has won awards for his plein air landscapes and in recent years has been recognized for both his abilities in the arts and for his service to others in the arts.

David's wife is currently involved in educating children in the arts and has given David numerous opportunities to demonstrate the elements and principles of art to elementary students. The foundation for their combined efforts to bring art back into the schools come from their belief that art acts as the spirit in any community and without uplifting art, the community will lack the creativity and energy that the arts in any wholesome form bring to a society.

David and his wife currently reside in Provo, UT and are raising their children there.
